The R.E. Lee Camp has had a long-standing tradition of holding a fall picnic event that for many years was a Steak Fry held at the home of Cooper and Fanny Dawson. This year the event is planned to be at the home of Robert Montague at 119 S. Lee Street in Alexandria. There is a planned tour of his son’s cellar (similar to ice house at Gadsby’s Tavern) which was uncovered during the construction of a new kitchen. Dixie Bones will cater, Maker’s Mark will be provided, bring your favorite beer or wine. Rain or shine, do RSVP using the last page of the August General Orders.
