Alexandria, VA

Dinner meeting Monday April 6th Billie and Frank Earnest will speak to us on The Life of George Pickett. Billie has spent the last 15 years researching his whole life…from early childhood to his death. She expanded her research to include his whole family…this 3rd wife’s family and the following generations related to both George and Sallie. Among some of her many treasured items that once belonged to the General and his family …are a silver creamer, a silver serving spoon…pearl handled fruit knives….and original photographs…never before published.

Over the years….modern historians have stated that Mrs. Pickett lied about the General’s military career, especially Pickett’s Charge, July 3rd 1863…. to quote a recent author’s remarks….”she (Mrs. Pickett) made him the Confederate General he never was.” In Billie’s program, she approaches these half truths and tells the correct truth. She hopes that her presentation will explain who the real George Pickett was and not what modern historians say he was. She will also answer the question…Where was George during Pickett’s Charge?
