Join Adjutant J.J. Smith as he plans to attend the 16th annual tour of the Ball’s Bluff Battlefield in Leesburg, Virginia and celebrate the 154th anniversary of the Battle.  The tour guide, Bill Wilkin is Chairman of the Loudoun County Heritage Commission and past president of the Loudoun County Civil War Roundtable. The Jackson House will be a new part of our tour this year.

Bill Wilkin is also an NVRPA-trained volunteer guide, attorney, former Foreign Service officer and reserve officer. Bill is now a history teacher in Loudoun County

See where The Harvard Regiment–the 20th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry–fought its first battle of the Civil War. Stand where future Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. (’61) was wounded. Hear the story of a daring escape across the Potomac led by Captain William Francis Bartlett (’62).

We will be led again by Bill Wilkin, NVRPA-trained volunteer guide, attorney, former Foreign Service officer and reserve officer. Meet us at the circle at the park entrance before the gravel road begins for what a club member last year called ” the best civil war walking tour he had ever taken.”

This is a walking tour; wear shoes with socks not sandals.

This is a perfect family excursion and children of all ages are welcome to attend

Please note that at Bill’s request, all of the monies collected will be donated to the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority which owns the Jackson House.

Use restrooms in Leesburg before you arrive; none at park

Battlefield Parkway now goes all the way north from Route 7 for those arriving from Tyson’s on Route 7 West.

$5.00 for Members and their Guests/$15.00 for Nonmembers. Walk-ins must come with a $15. check per person made out to the NVAPA.
